The Italian Job
"Culture is hanging out!!"
Well, let’s start by saying that this gorgeous idea comes from the industrious mind of Testuggine, one of the most active Italian bookcrossers. So, here we are! Testuggine comes up with this idea for the 7th Italian BC day, and calls it “Culture is hanging out!”. All that was needed was just grab some laundry lines, clothes-pegs, see – through plastic bags, and find a place to put up our temporary lines to... hang the books on them!!! Testuggine had not to worry about people joining this idea, because everybody did, with an incredible euphoria! The chosen day for the “laundry service” was sep. 13th. From the Alps to the Islands, the bookcrossers walked over their cities, hanging up the books, each using his own technique, of course!! Furthermore, this initiative gave the Italian bookcrossers the chance to express their flair: you will see bright coloured labels, hand-painted clothes-pegs, nice written bags, and many other inventions. While the Bookcrossers were at work, many curious people was inevitably attracted by this strange and uncommon idea, bringing smiles of approval, congratulations to the bookcrossers, questions about the whole thing, incredulity.. And finally, the bookcrossers left the place and that huge amount of culture there, which was just waiting to be taken away. The wait was short… the day after, in some cases not more than two hours later, all the books were gone! Someone took the clothes-pegs as well, someone else took off the lines, and rounded it off, leaving it politely on the ground. We just have to wait for the J.E... but many of them has already arrived!
